สุขสันต์วันสงกรานต์ "suk san wan Songkran" "Happy Songkran Day"

let make 'em wet

     Songkran festival celebrate on 13-15 April every years which supposedly the peak of hot season in Thailand when temperature can go as high as 40 C. Previously set by astrological calculation.

     Also celebrated as Traditional Thai new year. Most common thing during Songkran is "water throwing" scene. Well this is my first time for me to celebrate it in the middle of thai's community. all the pic inserted was an advance celebration in my workplace which consist of internal parties only. but it did look extreme for me, yet i enjoyed it maag maag.

     Start by prayer by monk and then cleaning Buddha statues by pouring water with some fragrance. it is believed that his can bring luck and fortune (i didn't join this activity). Originally this "water throwing" activities is the way for thai's people to respect their elders. the water that used by Buddha's cleaning believed as "blessed water", younger people will pour the water slowly to their elders shoulder for fortune and luck.
lihat lah betapa extremenye mereka demi memastikan org lain basah (P'Toi)

     My friend did warn me to cover all my electronic gadgets and wallet with plastic bags during this season as one thing that you cannot expect during Songkran is "dry". They will not let you dry, its like they hate dry ppl!. then i start thinkin', how can i capture those memories with my camera in plastic bag.. we'll see how...!

    During this hot season, we called it summer, most of thai ppl will wear colourful shirt /dress with floral design on it. i never wear those kind of shirts before. it just look weird when you wear it without enough "character". but in here, if dont wear it, you look weird.

     Ppl may ask " what should i do if i dont want to be wet?" my answer, don't go anywhere, stay at home coz most of the time you won't have the time to explain why i cannot be wet. Or a foreigner said "they should respect me if i don't want to wet?" my answer, where are you now? and you should know on this festive season what should you prepare.

     but if you're going to Bangkok, only certain areas are allowed to celebrate songkran. but to be safe, just keep everything well packed in sealed water resistant bag. In Nakonratcasima, the celebration is everywhere, even the motorcyclist included.

     Another thing, u cannot scold ppl if they make u wet and its applicable to everyone.. so go to teach them the wet lesson too...

*play by the rule....
